A Breed Apart is the thirteenth episode in Season 3, as well as the thirty-ninth and final episode from Teacher's Pet before the movie premiered over a year and a half later. It was directed by Ennio Torresan, Jr. and written by Jess Winfield.
Plot[]
Spot, concerned about what breed he is, drags Leonard to a dog show to find out, but he runs into a real conundrum with the purebred dogs. In the meantime, Mr. Jolly's father pays a visit and Jolly is not happy to see him after years of him, his mom, and the rest of his brothers and sisters being abandoned by him. However, he finds out his mother did not tell the full story.

Trivia[]
- We learn more about Mr. Jolly's past in this episode, as we see his father in the series' present time, as well as his mother and siblings in flashbacks.
- Spot is revealed to be a mixed breed of a dachshund and a retriever.
- Ray Wise guest stars as Mr. Poppy Puttinpuss, Mr. Jolly's father.
- This was not intended to be the series finale; the producers were planning two more seasons (as part of Disney’s 65 episode rule) before Teacher's Pet and all the other One Saturday Morning shows at the time were cancelled due to ABC Kids being developed.
- Ironically, despite being the last episode, this doesn’t feature the school at all.
- Moral: It doesn’t matter what kind of breed your pet is. What matters is that you love them.
